‘Young Tibetan Women Leadership Training’ by TWA begins

After successfully completing their first ever workshop on “Young Tibetan Women Leadership Training” in 2005, Tibetan Women’s Association is once again back with this thoughtful and appreciative program here in New Delhi which commenced today. The Workshop is sponsored by Committee for Support of Tibet (CAT) which is an independent Tibet support group working on cultural, social, humanitarian and information campaign issues.

The participation for this event is deliberately and exclusively set for girls inorder to encourage them to unleash their inhibitions and vulnerability and make the best use of this platform. Chief Guest Yeshi Phuntsok Acharya, Member of Pailiament, CTA graced the occasion by lighting the lamp. The inaugural ceremony included a very eloborate and distinctive speech by the chief guest and TWA President Mrs. B. Tsering gave introduction to the workshop and the importance of organizing such stage to highlight one’s capacity.

“During our time we did not get such opportunities wherein we can learn and gather so much knowledge. But today I see lots of platforms and options for the younger generations to execute their knowledge as well as discover many new things. They should feel blessed and make the best use of it”, told Yeshi Phuntsok Acharya.

Around 20 enthusiastic participants from various colleges and institutions in India took part in this wonderful learning opportunity for five days which will conclude on 13th December 2006.

Today’s program highlighted the importance of Media and how effective role can media play in promoting Tibet’s Issue whereas how media at the same time can propagandize. Kate Saunders, a writer and journalist who works for the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) coordinated this particular exercise and gave imperative workshop on Media Outreach in general. Her session was more of interaction and group discussions on various Tibet Issue.

Refreshing and funfilled games were also organized in between to set a free and entertaining atmosphere.

The following four days will see many other eminent guest speakers who are expert and had excelled in their respective field. Miss Youdon Aukatsang and Mr.Penpa Tsering, Members of Pailiament and Mr.Vijay Kranti, a prominent journalist and a long-time friend of Tibet will be giving away their presentation and discussions on different topics in the coming days.
