His Holiiness the Dalai Lama embarks on Europe visit

DHARAMSHALA, August 9: His Holiness the Dalai Lama left his exile home of Dharamshala, north India earlier today for a three-nation Europe visit which will take him to France, Estonia, and Finland.

The 76-year old Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to give teachings on Kamalashila’s ‘The Middling States of Meditation’ (gomrim barpa) in Toulouse, France on August 13 and 14 followed by a public talk on ‘The Art of Happiness’ the next day. His Holiness is visiting France at the invitation of the Chemins de Sagesse – Toulouse 2011, a special association of three Tibetan Buddhist centres.

On his third visit to Estonia, the Dalai Lama is scheduled to give a public talk on ‘A Call for Universal Responsibility’ on August 17 in the nation’s capital. On the sidelines of the public talk, His Holiness will be meeting senior Estonian ministers.

On the last leg of the visit, the Dalai Lama will give teachings on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s’ Eight Verses of Training the Mind’ (lojong tsik gyema) in Helsinki, Finland on August 20 followed by a public talk on ‘The Power of Compassion’ in the afternoon. His Holiness’ visit to Finland is being organised by the Finnish Tibetan Cultural Association.
