Dharamsala, February 21: Several associations, Tibet support groups and Rights bodies based in Europe have issued an open appeal letter asking “all associations, supporting groups, social and political forces, institutions and local authorities to outrightly support the Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement”.

In the joint statement, the group expressed satisfaction over the launch of the Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement jointly by five leading Tibetan non-governmental organizations. The group also stated commitments to organize “any possible initiative to support the march of the exiles” and to plan “as many initiatives as possible in favour of the Tibetan patriots who intend to reach their occupied country”.

Tibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women’s Association, Gu-Chu-Sum Movement of Tibet, National Democratic Party of Tibet and Students for a Free Tibet (India) have recently announced the launch of a return march to Tibet by exiled Tibetans as part of the larger “Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement” to press China for the peaceful resolution of Tibet issue.

Following is the full text of the Appeal

European Support to Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement

Appeal

In our statement approved at the end of the 1st International Forum for Tibetan Freedom (Turin, 26th May, 2007) we committed ourselves to: “Support a unified independence movement to which we could give our unqualified support and cooperation, to realize the aspirations of the Tibetan People for an independent Tibet, that courageous activists demonstrate constantly over the years protesting inside Tibet”.

In the last few weeks, Tibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women’s Association, Gu-Chu-Sum Movement of Tibet, National Democratic Party of Tibet and Students for a Free Tibet (India) have launched the “Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement”, a new, unified movement aiming at ending the Chinese dominion over Tibet.

We would like to express our deep satisfaction with the newly recaptured unity of action among all the main organizations of the Tibetan civil society and our agreement with their manifesto. As a result, we commit ourselves:

– To organize any possible initiative to support the march of the exiles

– To plan as many initiatives as possible in favour of the Tibetan patriots who intend to reach their occupied country

We also ask all associations, supporting groups, social and political forces, institutions and local authorities to outrightly support the Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement.
