Choenga Choepa
His Holiness the Dalai Lama giving teachings on Lord Buddha’s 34 Jataka Tales (Khay-rab soshi) as part of the “Butter Lamp Festival” (Choe-nga Choepa), in Dharamsala, India, on Thursday, February 21 2008. Choe-nga Choepa (held on the fifteenth day or the full moon day of the first Tibetan Lunar month) is the highlight of the Monlam Chenmo (the Great Prayer Festival). His Holiness the Dalai Lama presided over the great Buddhist service earlier in the morning before giving teaching to thousands of audience, including some 4000 Buddhist monks and nuns, and hundreds of foreign devotees who packed the courtyard of the Main Tibetan temple (Tsuglag Khang).
