DHARAMSHALA, August 19: The Central Tibetan Administration has expressed it ‘profound sympathy’ for the victims of the terror attack in Barcelona and Cambrils, Spain, which have resulted in 14 deaths and more than 100 injured.

The President of the Central Tibetan Administration Dr. Lobsang Sangay said, “I express my profound sympathy and condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack in Spain yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Spain.”

“Spain has long been a friend of the Tibetan people and we stand in solidarity with you as you recover from this brutal attack on innocent civilians and tourists,” the President added.

Islamic State have claimed the responsibility for the attacks in the two different cities of Spain. According to reports, the terrorists drove their car into pedestrians of Las Ramblas Boulevard in Barcelona, running over people. Similarly, after 8 hours of the Barcelona attack, another attack took place in the resort town of Cambrils.

“Let’s learn to listen to each other again, to respect each other’s weaknesses. Above all, lets remember that violence is not the solution to resolve conflicts. I pray that peace and harmony will once again reign the beautiful cities of Barcelona and Cambrils,” Sikyong Sangay said.

While the world mourns, President Sangay reminded the words of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the ‘concept of oneness of humanity, and love and wellbeing for all’.

The police have killed seven suspects and four have been arrested with another suspect, a 22-year-old Moroccan national named Younes Abouyaaqoub, still at large. He has now become the focus of a manhunt following the twin attack.
