DHARAMSHALA, July 11: In a show of strong support towards Tibet issue, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and veteran BJP politician Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that every Indian is ‘one with the people of Tibet’.
“The 125 Crore people of India are one with the people of Tibet in their struggle for freedom from Chinese oppression and will support them for as long as it takes for the Tibet to become independent,” the politician told India Today, a Noida-based media house.
His remarks followed a statement by Long Xingchun, Director of the Center for Indian Studies at China West Normal University, saying Chinese troop would be entitled to enter the Indian side of Kashmir just like India has in Doklam area, disputed region between Tibet, Bhutan and India.
The politician, who is also strong supporter Tibet’s independence, also said, “The tendency of China is like the demons of the past. Its symbol is the dragon and like a dragon, China is oppressing and decimating the native Tibetans to establish its stronghold in the region.”
He also highlighted how China is strategically destroying the Tibetan culture, heritage, religion and race by destroying monasteries and ‘forcefully marrying’ Tibetan women to Han Chinese to diminish the ethnic identity.
Calling for a ban on Chinese goods, he said, “The shopkeepers in India should install signboards at their establishments declaring that they do not sell Chinese products and only indigenously produced goods are sold. This will break China’s back financially.”
