DHARAMSHALA, JAN 21: His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his hopefulness about the newly sworn-in 45th US President Donald Trump and Russian President Valdimir Putin working together towards a peaceful world order through dialogue at an event in Delhi today.

“Using force has become outdated. The 21st century should be the century of dialogue,” the Tibetan spiritual leader said.

The Dalai Lama at the event organized by the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) said, “The world today needs leaders with compassion as compassion towards others builds trust and loyalty. Women are biologically more sensitive towards others, which means the world needs more women leaders.”

The Tibetan government in exile while wishing Trump luck hopes that the new President like his predecessors would meet with the Tibetan leader.

“The US has been one of the strongest allies for the Tibetan movement and a very dear friend to His Holiness. We do hope that next US president will follow the precedent that has been already set by his predecessor,” said Dhardon Sharling, Secretary, Department of Information and International Relations, CTA.

Coincidently, Trump in his inaugural speech spoke on the government belonging to and controlled by the people echoing what the Dalai Lama said in his interview to CNN, which was done in December 2016 and released on January 18.

In the interview, the Tibetan spiritual leader said that the world belongs to humanity and American belongs to American people.

He also said that the elected leader with responsibility ‘should carry work realistically’ with the ‘system of teamwork’ in the democratic set up of the country he considers as the leading nation of the free world.
