DHARAMSHALA, DEC. 20: A Teenaged Tibetan has been arrested for carrying out a solo protest against the Chinese rule on December 16 in Ngaba County in traditional Tibetan province of Amdo.
Tenpa, an 18-year-old former monk of Kirti Monastery, walked through the Martyr’s lane (Pawoe Sanglam) shouting slogans while carrying a Tibetan national flag and a portrait of the Dalai Lama, said Kungam, a Tibetan living in Australia.
“He was heard shouting slogans such as ‘Dalai Lama’s return to Tibet’ and ‘Freedom in Tibet’. He managed to carry out his protest for five minutes until a group of Chinese police arrested him,” Kungam said citing a source from the region.
The source also reported that the family members of the arrested youth are still unaware of his current whereabouts and his physical conditions.
The former monk currently living a life of a nomad in Ngaba is son of Lochoe and Gyalmo from Meruma township. He was known for his social endeavors and active participation in discussions on Tibetan issues without apprehension during social gatherings.
