Tibetan PM greets Pelosi on reelection as House Minority Leader

DHARAMSHALA, Dec 02: House Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has won another term as the house minority leader yet again for the coming congress on Wednesday. The Californian Rep. beat Tim Ryan, Ohio Rep. in the challenge to become the leader of Democrats in US House of Representatives by a vote of 134 to 63.

The democratically elected Tibetan leader Dr. Lobsang Sangay congratulated Ms. Nancy Pelosi, former House speaker on her win as Democratic Party leader in US congress.

“I, on behalf of the central Tibetan administration heartily congratulate you on being re-elected as the Democratic leader in the US House of Representatives” conveyed Dr. Sangay. He added, “Your re-election to the crucial post of democratic leader is a reflection of your leadership, integrity and the sharp relevance of your voices as champion of American ideals.”

The Tibetan political shared, “I am also grateful to you for being a true friend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people.”

“The Tibetan people remain indebted to you for your consistent efforts to steer the conscience of the world by raising your voice and lending your pivotal support to the cause of Tibet. We hope that the bond of our friendship grows deeper and stronger,” stated the Sikyong.

Nancy Pelosi became the first woman speaker of the house in 2006. Ms. Pelosi, House Minority leader, is an ardent and committed supporter of the Tibet cause and Human rights, advocator of peace and nonviolence. The US lawmaker has long time been a critic of Beijing’s human rights abuse.

Ms. Pelosi even led a delegation in a rare visit to Tibet in 2015, more than six years after reportedly being rejected by Beijing for a visit back in 2009. Pelosi’s stance on Tibet has earned her notoriety in Chinese press as well.

“Our country has a responsibility to speak put for Human rights in Tibet and elsewhere in China. If freedom loving people do not speak out for human rights in China because of our commercial interest, then we lose our moral authority to talk about any place in the world,” said Ms, Pelosi and Rep. Jim McGovern on the 57th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising.

As Nancy Pelosi wins election of leader the Democratic caucus, she continues her 14 years’ run with this reelection as leadership of the House Democrats in US Congress. “I look forward to working with all of our colleagues from the beautiful diversity of our caucus to put forth messages that connects with American people,” said Pelosi in her winning statement.
