Tibetan PM speaks at Halifax Security Forum 2016

DHARAMSHALA, Nov. 21: The Tibetan prime minister Dr. Lobsang Sangay attended the Halifax International Security Forum 2016 in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he spoke on the significance of Tibet as Asia’s water tower and China’s exploitation of Tibet’s rivers, and the subsequent climatic changes in Tibet and globally.

The Tibetan leader took part in an off the record panel discussion on “Power Corrupts, Corruption Corrodes” with Dr. Leila Alieva of University of Oxford, Chairman Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield, Stimson Centre and Mayor David Smolansky from Venezuela. Mr. Dixon Osburn, Executive Director of the Centre for Justice and Accountability, hosted the discussion.

The 8th Halifax International Security Forum 2016 touched upon various issues such as democracy, responsibility of big countries, Syria conflict, NATO, climate and energy security, ISIS, refugees, trade and the American presidential elections and policy changes.

Halifax International security forum is a non-profit, non-partisan, independent organization based in Washington, DC. It brings together democratic leaders and key individuals, who are committed to the global security, influencing decisions makers and addressing the challenges of the world today.

After the conclusion of the forum Sikyong Lobsang Sangay left for Toronto to give a public talk to the Tibetan community following which the Tibetan political leader will be heading to New York and Frankfurt.
