DHARAMSHALA, Nov. 17: A video showing two Tibetan women carrying out a peaceful protest in the streets of restive Ngaba town has surfaced on social networking sites. However, there is no clear information as to the actual time of the incidence.
“I can confirm that the street in the video is somewhere near the Kirti Monastery in Ngaba town but I have no information as to who they are and when the incident took place,” Kanyak Tsering, a Tibetan monk at the exile based Kirti monastery told Phayul.
The video, which reports have claimed to be of November 15, shows the two women walking together while carrying large portraits of the exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama.
According to Radio Free Asia, the incident took place on Tuesday and that the two were calling for the long life of the Dalai Lama. However, the identities and fate of the two women could not be ascertained at the moment. Many fear that the two must have been already arrested by Chinese police.
Kirti monastery in the restive Ngaba town from where the bulk of self immolators and solo protesters have emerged over the years is a heavily scrutinized area with surveillance and police presence around the clock.
