DHARAMSHALA, October 19: Over six local Indian shopkeepers have been arrested yesterday for flattening the makeshift stalls installed by the Tibetan sweater sellers and manhandling them in Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
Despite having all the necessary documents and permission from the District Marketing Committee, the Tibetans had to helplessly watch as their stalls were being brought to the ground. Some men appeared with sticks and removed the constructions after reportedly staging a protest near the Tibetan market.
“We are here to earn our livelihood just like those shopkeeper who did this. We have never done anything wrong here in this town,” Pema, a Tibetan shopkeeper said as she controlled her tears crying for help from the authorities.
She also added that she would not leave until till she has installed her stall back.
The police intervened and arrested six people in connection with the incident. They have registered them under Sections 148, 149, 323 and 506 of the IPC. They have also started an investigation based on the CCTV footage and interrogating the detained shopkeepers to apprehend more culprits.
