DHARAMSHALA, Oct. 10: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is currently in the Latvian capital Riga has accepted AP Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s invitation to visit the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh bordering the Chinese controlled Tibet in March next year.
A group of top leadership of the AP state government met with the Tibetan leader in New Delhi on Sunday (Oct. 9) before departing for Latvia. CM Pema Khandu, Arunachal Legislative Assembly Speaker TN Thongdok, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Minister Rajesh Tacho, Parliamentary Secretaries Jambey Tashi, Phurpa Tsering, Pasang Dorjee Sona, MLA Japu Deru and Chairpersons Jambey Wangdi and Tungri Effa met the Dalai Lama who agreed to visit Arunachal during the tentative dates around the second week of March 2017.
Arunachal Times cited CM Khandu as saying, “I take the privilege of this audience with your Holiness to once again represent the aspirations of my people to be blessed with your benevolent visit to Arunachal Pradesh. We are eagerly waiting for the cherished moments of your holy presence in Arunachal Pradesh.”
During the audience, the 81 year old Tibetan leader advised the politicians to serve the public while holding their respective offices and to do so in a compassionate way. “You are public servants, so you should all come out from the party lines to live up to the people’s aspirations” the Dalai Lama said.
The Nobel laureate today began his teaching on the Dharmakirti’s Pramanavarttika (tsema namdrel) at the request of Save Tibet Foundation (Moscow) and Saglabasim Tibetu (Riga), in Riga. He is also scheduled to meet with a group of Parliamentarians from the Baltic States and give an audience to Tibet supporters from the Baltic States, as well as a meeting with a few Russian intellectuals, according to official sources.
