US Ambassador calls on Dalai Lama in Dharamshala

DHARAMSHALA, Sept 5: The United States Ambassador to India yesterday had an audience with the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence here in Mcloed Ganj, media reports cited officials.

The meeting which lasted almost an hour between the Tibetan leader and Ambassador Richard Verma was reportedly to bolster relations and understanding between the US government and the exile establishment.

On Saturday, Ambassador Verma met senior leaders and Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay from the exile Tibetan government based here. The Ambassador and his family were received by Cabinet Secretary Topgyal Tsering at the Kangra Airport here on Saturday. He refused to give any comments on the nature of the visit.
