DHARAMSHALA, July 8: The Tibetan leader who recently celebrated his 81st birthday today returned to his exile home here in Mcloed Ganj after concluding his weeklong schedule at Doeguling Tibetan settlement in Mundgod, South India.
The hectic schedule of the octogenarian leader saw him leave Dharamshala on June 10 for the United States from where he flew to South India to bestow full ordination vow to close to 3200 monks who have come specifically from various monasteries in India.
After almost a month, the Tibetan leader returned home, landing at the Gagal Airport near Kangra where the Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, officials and representatives of Central Tibetan Administration welcomed him. A welcome procession of local Tibetans, school children and well wishers were also present at the airport.
The Dalai Lama will give a teaching on Za Patrul Rinpoche’s Heart Treasure of the Saints, The Practice of View, Meditation and Action: Speech that is Virtuous in the Beginning, Middle and End on June 13 at the sacred Rewalsar lake known more prolifically as ‘Tso Pema’ near Mandi Town in Himachal Pradesh.
The Dalai Lama will also be giving teachings in Leh, Ladakh in August, according to the website of his private office.
