Pelosi to greet Dalai Lama at Washington DC public talk

DHARAMSHALA, June 13: The prominent American politician and a strong supporter of the Tibetans, Nancy Pelosi, would join the Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama for an event organized by the Washington based National Endowment for Democracy on Wednesday.

Pelosi will greet the Dalai Lama at a public talk ‘A Peaceful Mind in a Modern World’ at the American University’s Bender Arena.

Hollywood star and Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet, Richard Gere will be accompanying the House Democratic Leader in welcoming and introducing the Tibetan spiritual leader.

The talk organized by the Capital Area Tibetan Association, a non-profit organization of Tibetans, is scheduled for 1:30p.m. – 3p.m. (local time) and would be telecasted live at http://www.dalailama2016dc.com

Prior to the public talk, His Holiness is scheduled to meet a group of student leaders of United States Institution of Peace (USIP) at 10 a.m. (local time) as a follow up to their meeting here in Dharamshala on May 3.

The event will also be telecasted live at https://www.usip.org/events/the-dalai-lama-end-violence-engage-youth.

In their previous meeting, the Dalai Lama has said that the youth leaders from Arab countries must make efforts to build a genuine harmony and also organize interfaith meetings. He also added that the youth leaders should be at the forefront of ‘peacebuilding’ process throughout the globe.
