Dalai Lama departs for a 19 day trip to US

DHARAMSHALA, June 10: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama today left Dharamshala on a 19 day trip to the United States of America where he is scheduled to attend numerous events and teachings.

Beginning his schedule on June 13, His Holiness will give a public talk, ‘A Peaceful Mind in a Modern World’ at the Bender Arena, American University, Washington DC. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi will offer greetings at the Tibetan leader’s Public Talk.

Four days later, on June 18, the Dalai Lama will give a public talk on ‘The Power of Compassion as Key to Accomplishing Greater Values to Self and Others’ at the new Dieu Ngu Temple, Westminster, CA, USA. The following afternoon, the Tibetan leader will confer Medicine Buddha Empowerment in the afternoon at the temple.

The next day, His Holiness will participate in the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Dieu Ngu Temple hosted by Venerable Vien Li, and meet with Vietnamese devotees.

On June 21, His Holiness will give a public talk on Compassion and Universal Responsibility at the University of Utah in partnership with the Utah Tibet Foundation at the Huntsman Center, Salt Lake City, UT, USA.

On 23 June, His Holiness will give a teaching on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Training the Mind (lojong tsikgyema) at the Coors Event Center and he will give a public talk on Educating the Heart and Mind the same day.

Concluding his US schedule on June 25, the Tibetan leader will give a public talk on Compassion as a Pillar of World Peace at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum and return to Dharamshala on 28 June.
