DHARAMSHALA, April 5: Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Dharamshala yesterday on a weeklong commitment in the Indian capital and Dehradun in Uttrakhand state.
The Tibetan leader met with Indian politicians and government officials in Delhi earlier today and is expected to leave for Dehradun tomorrow where he will take part in the inaugural ceremony of Vana Retreat Centre there.
The Nobel laureate will return to Delhi where he will engage in a four day event with prominent academics and scientists to discuss implementation of basic human values in academic structure and finalize the draft curriculum for secular education at Delhi University.
Keeping with one of his three main commitments, to promote basic human values, His Holiness will be speaking at American Embassy School, Springdales School and the IIT Delhi on ‘Compassion and Global Responsibility’, ‘Peace and Values in Schooling’ and ‘Ethics and Happiness’ during his stay in the Indian capital.
Concluding his trip, the Tibetan leader will return to Dharamshala on April 11. His schedule in England has been scrapped earlier following medical advice to take rest.
The 80 year old assured that he is “very happy and physically fit” while returning to Dharamshala earlier last month following a month long “precautionary prostrate treatment”.
