DHARAMSHALA, April 1: The 15th Tibetan Parliament in Exile (TPiE) today concluded its final session with the Speaker and Prime Minister (Sikyong) both urging the Tibetan public to leave the election chaos behind and work in harmony and unity for the betterment of the administration.
“The election is over and the result is also out. Irrespective of your affiliation to your candidate, it is now essential that we must be united in supporting the new administration. Therefore, through this platform I urge everyone to avoid mudslinging and be united,” said the outgoing Speaker Penpa Tsering in his closing speech.
Similarly, the Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay said, “Past is past and now it is important for us to learn from our mistakes in order to avoid it in the future. We must be beacon of hope for those inside Tibet.”
Both the Sikyong candidates during their election campaigns and debates had to clarify many controversies. The speaker said the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama had reminded him of the responsibility to promote unity among Tibetans.
“During this elections, many things were said and I sensed negative influence of western politics. I apologize if Tibetans inside Tibet were concerned and I urge everyone not to feel segregations were created due to this election. I am confident of unity amongst Tibetans if we work together,” said Penpa Tsering.
The Speaker at the end acknowledged the cooperation of all the Members of Parliament and the Kashag. He also thanked all the staff members of the parliament secretariat for their tireless work.
Yesterday, the Parliament approved a budget of rupees 2,240,482,481 (Two twenty four Crore, four Lakh eighty two thousand four hundred and eighty one Rupees) for the functioning of the CTA and its various offices around the world for the fiscal year 2016-17.
