DHARAMSHALA, March 31: Three Tibetans in Matoe County in Amdo (Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai province), were arrested by Chinese police at around 10 AM local time on Wednesday in connection with the recently concluded Tibetan elections in exile, reported the Voice of Tibet.
The three Tibetans, two men and a woman, were identified as Samdup, 40, Rongshar, 29, and Lhadon. According to a source, four Chinese police arrested the three from their county.
They were arrested for taking part in a group discussion on WeChat micro messaging app with people from outside Tibet, a source told the VOT.
Local Tibetans say that they were arrested for discussing on topics related to the 2016 exile Tibetan election, the same source said.
Currently, they are all held in the county detention centre since their arrest. The authorities have not allowed their friends and families to meet them.
Samdup is currently the deputy leader of division 1, 3 and 5 of Kyareng village, which has around 150 households. Lhadon is a mother of two with daughter Dharkar (11) and son Tsegyam (8). Youngest of all, Rongshar has a wife named Yangkyi.
