DHARAMSHALA, January 26: In an open display of their loyalty and devotion to the exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama Tibetans in Tibet are holding prayers for the speedy recovery of their leader, who arrived in the US last week for a prostrate treatment.
Pictures circulating on social networking sites show thousands of Tibetans, including monks and nuns, gathered outside Chakri monastery in Tehor region in Kham to pray for the Dalai Lama’s health, sending a strong message to Beijing which released a database of its approved lamas minus the Dalai Lama last week.
A large portrait of the Dalai Lama is placed alongside offerings and Khatas (traditional Tibetan wellwishing scarves) at the entrance of the monastery.
Doctors at Mayo Clinic in Rochester have already announced that there are no major health concerns for the 80 year old Tibetan leader and that he should recover soon after completing treatment. The Dalai Lama will be in taking rest until his return to India in March.
Tibetan exiles around the world have also started prayers as per a circular issued by the exile government’s Department of Religion.
