DHARAMSHALA, January 1: The Tibetan version of a biographical comic on the Dalai Lama was launched on Friday by the Tibetan Minister of Religion and Culture (Kalon) Pema Chhinjor here at Hotel Tibet.

The Author, Vijay Kranti, a veteran journalist and long time friend and supporter of Tibet, announced that he dedicates the book to the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) which assisted in translating the book. Kranti said the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Tibetan Youth Congress. The author donated 4,000 books to the organization, whose sale money will be contributed as ‘fund’ for their future endeavors.

“People may hold some reservation against the organization. I believe TYC is among the most genuine and committed organization towards Tibetan cause. It is also the most patriotic as well. TYC is an organization, which deserves support not just from the exile Tibetan community but from the whole world,” said Vijay.

The author expressed his happiness that the book is now available in Tibetan language. The English edition of the book was launched in August 8, 2013.

Kalon Pema Chhinjor said such books are very effective and useful for the Tibetan youth, especially those growing up in America and European countries, in learning about Tibet and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Calling Vijay his ‘comrade’, Kalon Pema Chhinjor acknowledged his decision of dedicating the book to TYC and also wished them well.

The 74-page comic covers the search for the14th Dalai Lama, Sino–Tibetan relationship before 1959, fleeing into exile and winning the Nobel Peace Prize, among others.

Vijay also said that he plans to work on the second part or the continuation from the current version. “I am also going to organize an International Tibet Photo Festival, ‘Buddha’s Home Coming’, which will be a tribute to the Dalai Lama, Tibetan refugee community and India.”
