DHARAMSHALA, November 9: The Tibetan Prime Minister (Sikyong) Dr. Lobsang Sangay and Minister of Information and International Relations (Kalon) Dicki Chhoyang on Monday released ‘A Tactical Report on The Tibet Movement’ complied by the International Tibet Network (ITN) at its 4th Asia Regional Meeting in Dharamshala.
Forty-six representatives from 10 nations and 14 different Tibetan NGOs have gathered for a three-day meet to analyze the present situation of the Tibet movement, to identify the challenges and obstacles and to find a solution or action plan for Tibet movement in Asia region.
“The objective of the report is to identify the tactics that have been over used and also those which have been under used in a movement. Therefore understand how we can further strengthen the movement,” said Tenzin Jigdal, International Coordinator, ITN.
Thanking all the international supporters for their constant support, Sikyong said, “Through our friends (Tibet support groups) around the world, our voices and voices of those inside Tibet gets amplified. It also stands as a witness to the truth and their testimony and statements add to the credibility of the voices of Tibetans inside Tibet.”
Calling Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) as the nerve center of Tibetan movement and its importance in the Tibet movement, he said that despite the odd chances of success, ‘we must unite’. He also made clear that unity does not mean uniformity.
Speaking to the media he said, “It is important that Tibet support groups should not just subscribe, but also support CTA’s movement such as Middle-Way Approach and should speak more often about the importance of Tibet’s environment to the world and especially to Asian countries.”
Co-Chair of ITN, Dhardon Sharling said, “Our main objective is to collaborate all the 192 small and big Tibet support groups, irrespective of ideology, to unify them in finding a solution for issues inside Tibet and plan for global campaign for Tibet. ”
The tactical report has four main strands for achieving a major increase in pressure on China over Tibet and they are: Putting Tibetans in Tibet First; Sustained pressure on governments and companies to take action for Tibet; Targeting Chinese leaders responsible for Tibet Policy and Outreach to Chinese People.
