EC announces window for fresh registration of voters

DHARAMSHALA, November 7: The Election Commission (EC) of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) on Friday announced a second window of opportunity for a fresh voter registration.

Heeding request from voters, the EC has granted a final opportunity to those who turned 18 after the preliminary round of voting and for those who have not registered earlier.

The EC has laid out requirements for the fresh registration. I a statement, EC said, “The voters who are registering should have paid the voluntary contribution (Green Book) for the year 2015.”

The apex electoral body also notified all the Local Election Commissions (LECs) to provide them the aggregate numbers of fresh registered voters no later than February 28, 2016. It also highlighted that they should state the voters’ native place and religious sect clearly.

The EC also said the preliminary voting of the Tibetan Prime Minister (Sikyong) and the members of the 16th Tibetan Parliament in Exile was a great success.
