DHARAMSHALA, June: Nangten Menlang International, Austria, in association with Central Tibetan Administration’s Department of Health started a four-day Lu Jong-Tibetan Healing Yoga, workshop today at Peace House, Upper TCV school.
To demonstrate the richness of Tibetan culture and value of preserving and practicing powerful tantrayana movements, 22 physical training instructors have been called from various TCV schools, Sambhota and Tibetan Homes Foundation.
“The purpose of teaching the physical exercise is to benefit Tibetans’ health and well being. It is also to persuade more Tibetans to practice these movements to attain a deep harmony of body, mind and spirit,” said Trulku Lobsang Rinpoche, who conducts the workshop.
Lobsang Rinpoche is a teacher of the Tantrayana Buddhist tradition, doctor of Tibetan medicine, and also an astrologer.
Dr. Tsering Wangchuk , Kalon of Health Department, CTA in his inaugural address spoke on importance of physical exercise as a preventive measure against diseases. “According to WHO, 80% of diseases prevalent in this world are preventive. The advent of modern medicine and technology has led to increase in the life expectancy rate of Tibetans, if compared to the conditions pre-1959. However, such increase is not a quality one. Apparently, disease such as high blood pressure is widespread amongst Tibetans.”
CTA Health Secretary, Tsegyal Dranyi said that the Tibetan children are the seeds of future Tibet and that such workshops for the physical trainers would help us reach the children more efficiently.”
A swift-foot marathon race using Tibetan Prana skills will be organised on full moon day on 27th June. The race will begin from Upper TCV school and finish at Tsuglagkhang.
Nyentse Tulku Lobsang Tamchoe Nyima, born in Sowa, Amdo Ngawa is a renowned Lu Jong practitioner based in Austria He has offered free teachings of his signature Lu Jong practice to the Tibetan community throughout India. Over 10,000 Tibetans from all age groups participated.
