DHARAMSHALA, May 4: Tibetan Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay on Saturday met with Union Minister of Health JP Nadda, and former Chief Ministers of Himachal Pradesh Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Tibetan PM Sangay apprised Nadda about the critical situation inside Tibet, particularly the wave of self-immolation protests against China’s hard-line policies and gross human rights violation, media reports cited. The BJP leaders had met in Kotwali Bazar for the Himachal State BJP’s executive meeting which was presided over as the Chief Guest by the party’s president Amit Shah.
Sangay also expressed his gratitude to the government of Himachal Pradesh and the central government for hosting the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people for the last five decades.
Nadda also assured Sangay his continued support to the Tibetan people saying that BJP government supports the Tibetan people in their struggle for dignity and human rights in Tibet.
Sangay was accompanied by Tsering Wangchuk, Minister of Department of Health, Tibetan government in exile. Wangchuk briefed Nadda about the serious situation of Tuberculosis (TB) in Tibetan community despite the health department’s best efforts and various initiatives to neutralize the disease.
Amit Shah, the President of Bharatiya Janata Party who was here to address the party’s state executive meeting on Saturday was scheduled to call on the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama but was cancelled due to Shah’s busy schedule.
