New Delhi, March 23: The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia called on His Holiness Dalai Lama at New Delhi on Sunday.
Kejriwal and Sisodia described the 30-minute meeting with the 79 year old Tibetan leader as a dream come true and a blessing. The two called His Holiness as one of the greatest humanitarian, who is respected worldwide.
During the meeting His Holiness appreciated the stand of the AAP Government on corruption and said, “I very much appreciate your stand on corruption, it’s a kind of violence and must be done away with.”
Kejriwal told the Tibetan leader that the people were hopeless with the system and wanted corruption to be done away with. “They saw an alternative in us and gave us a very decisive mandate. We gave a call to people to help us root out corruption and they reposed their full trust in us; we are working to do away with the prevailing corruption in the system,” the Chief Minister told His Holiness.
“India is a great democratic country and is known worldwide for its religious harmony and secular ethics. Secularism means respect for all human beings,” said His Holiness.
His Holiness showed his concern on the prevailing social evils in the society worldwide. On his concern the Deputy CM, who is also the education minister of Delhi said, “Education, especially school education, can help in doing away with such practices and we are working on it.”
On His Holiness’s concern over inequality throughout the world, the Delhi chief minister said, “In the eyes of law everyone is equal, but in reality evils like caste system prevail, there must be a social change to weed it out.”
Peace, harmony, social fabric and social evils were also discussed during the meeting. His Holiness said India should lead in religious harmony initiative to the rest of the World. “India possesses harmony & secularism and this must be encouraged and promoted in the whole world,” said the Tibetan leader who is in the Indian capital to tale part in various events.
