PM Sangay to attend Europe “Rally for Tibet” on uprising day

DHARAMSHALA, January 30: The Tibetan Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay will participate in ‘Rally for Tibet’ to commemorate the 56th Tibetan National Uprising Day in Paris, France, organized by the Tibetan Communities in Europe.

According to the website launched yesterday, the event will also see participation of musicians and artistes.

Thupten Gyatso, Coordinator of the rally committee said, “We are very glad to have Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay with us. I look forward to see an inspiring and colorful Tibetan march in Paris.”

The organizers also announced that it will present a declaration ‘Europe stands with Tibet-On the Freedom Struggle of the Tibetan People” to people of Europe on March 14, 2015 at Eiffel Tower, Paris. The declaration appeals the European politicians and people to join the declaration and present its result to the public on the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday on July 6, 2015.

“This year’s motto, ‘Europe stands with Tibet’ reflects the wish of many friends in Europe to express their solidarity with the Tibetan people more effectively”, said Wangpo Tethong, Member of Tibetan Parliament in Exile from Europe.

‘Europe Stands With Tibet’ is organized by all the Tibetan Communities in Europe and supported by the Tibet Support Groups in Europe.

Special lobby campaigns will also be carried out in other European countries.

On March 10, 1959, Tibetans in the capital city of Lhasa rose up against the Chinese occupying forces, leading to the death of thousands of Tibetans and the eventual escape of the Dalai Lama to exile.

Each year, Tibetans observe the day as the National Uprising Day all over the world.
