DHARAMSHALA, November 11: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama today told his followers that it is important to turn the world into a compassionate world to transform it into a peaceful world.
“To make 21st century a peaceful world; it should first become a compassionate world and to make a compassionate world, we do not have to teach religion to spread compassion but through education. It is important to understand that we all are same human being in this world and need love and compassion for each other,” said the Dalai Lama today at the start of his teachings requested by a group of Korean devotees.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama then began the three day teachings on Nagarjuna’s Preious Garland of the Middle Way at Tsuglakhang, the main temple here.
More than four thousand people from 57 countries are in attendance at the teachings that will conclude on November 13.
During the teachings, Korean medical professionals and volunteers from Dongguk University will provide free medical check up and treatment at the Tsuglakhang courtyard. The initiative is a voluntary community service by the Korean devotees in collaboration with the Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Expressing his sadness over conflicts arising out of religious intolerance the Tibetan spiritual leader said, “All religions preach compassion, yet one religious group killing another religious group is beyond imagination.”
Live webcasts of the teachings is available on the official website of the Dalai Lama. His Holiness will be speaking in Tibetan with English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Russian language translations available.
