Tibetan PM commends Tibetan charitable organization

DHARAMSHALA, October 27: The Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay today attended the 10th anniversary celebrations of ‘Tibet Charity’, a charity program working for the Tibetan community, here.

Sangay lauded the works done over the years by the charitable group founded in 1997 by a Denmark based Tibetan Lama Lakha Rinpoche.

At a modest gathering held at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Sangay said, “His Holiness the Dalai Lama preaches us to practice compassion, not just in words but also in action. One may be kind hearted but if one does not be of any service to the humanity then your contribution is limited. But a kind heart backed by kind action is the essence of Buddhism.”

Also present were the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament, Tibetan Ministers and Parliamentarians, Tibetan Chief Justice Commissioner, Senior Officials of Tibetan government in exile, representatives of NGOs, sponsors and Lakha Rinpoche himself.

Students of Tibet Charity Open Schooling Program and artistes of Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts performed Tibetan cultural dance.

Thanking his sponsors and supporters, Lakha Rinpoche said he had always wanted to help the needy and that he wishes to continue the same.

Founded in 1997 by Lakha Rinpoche in Denmark, Tibet Charity was started to help the neediest among the Tibet refugee communities in India and Nepal. Currently, the organization provides assistance to Tibetan refugees in the fields of Education, Health care, Social Development, Animal Care and Self-Sustainable Business development.
