DHARAMSHALA, October 21: Tibetan Entrepreneurship Development, an initiative of Social and Resource Development Fund (SARD) under the Department of Finance of Tibetan government in exile today began its outreach campaign here at Tibetan settlement hall in McLeod Ganj.
Speaking at the outreach campaign, Thinley Gyatso, Secretary of Department of Finance;
said, “As we all are aware that during the 13th Kashag (Tibetan cabinet), the enterprises under the Department of finance were privatized. Being at the forefront of the movement, it was later found inappropriate for the Tibetan government to indulge in business. However, the department of finance has continued to remain steadfast in its efforts to motivate entrepreneurship and strengthen the Tibetan economy through its various initiatives.”
TED offers a variety of services to help entrepreneurs at various stages of the business. It also aims to be an agent of change in helping orient Tibetan entrepreneurs and businesses towards becoming competitive, sustainable and impact-oriented.
Tenzin Norsang and Tenzin Wangyal, Coordinators of TED introduced the TED at the gathering here.
The Department of Finance called upon Tibetans to apply for Incubation and Pre-Incubation services and the selected candidates will get guidance and support by a network of specialist consultants. TED offers services in Pre-incubation, Business Incorporation, Incubation & Acceleration and Capital Linkages.
“TED further aims to create a mutually complementing set of initiatives and programs that identify, encourage and support entrepreneurs and enterprises in the Tibetan community to raise and utilize investment funds from private and commercials sources,” said Tenzin Norsang and Tenzin Wangyal, Coordinators of TED.
Keeping the development of “investable enterprises” owned and managed by Tibetan entrepreneurs as a central focus will be critical to how TED is designed and implemented, they added.
The TED initiative was formulated during the previous kashag and was implemented by the present kashag.
