DHARAMSHALA, October 16: Tibetan Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay, currently in his first leg of Europe tour, on Tuesday met with Czech lawmakers and a senator in Prague.
PM Sangay met with Mr Jaroslav Sebak, member of Czech Senate and three members of the Chamber of Deputies led by former foreign minister and leader of the opposition Party Karel Schwarzenberg, Leos Heger and Marketa Adamova.
“During the meeting, Sikyong spoke on the current situation in Tibet against the backdrop of tragic self-immolation protests by 132 Tibetans and the Central Tibetan Administration’s efforts to reach out to the Chinese leadership to resume dialogue to resolve the problem of Tibet through Middle Way policy,” said the Tibet.net, official website of Tibetan government in exile.
The Czech Parliamentarians also assured every possible effort to support the Tibetan cause.
Sangay on Monday attended the Forum 2000 Conference and participated in a panel discussion on “The Significance of Václav Havel’s Value-Based Foreign Policy”.
Following the meeting, Sangay travelled to Belgium. He will also visit Netherlands and Spain.
Last year, His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended the Forum 2000. The Tibetan leader had visited Czech Republic 10 times. The first visit was in January 1990 at the official invitation of late President Václav Havel immediately after the Velvet revolution.
