DHARAMSHALA, August 29: A Tibetan nun of Dokha nunnery in Gade County in Golok has been detained on Tuesday, an exile source said.
Kunsang Lhamo, 30, received a call from the local police while she was attending on a patient at a hospital in Golok. She was told that she was required to report to the police station to collect a CD, said the source.
Lhamo, along with a friend, went to the police station the next day. She was told that she had committed a serious crime for which she would have to travel to provincial headquarters in Qinghai for questioning. The police asked her friend to go to get her a few clothes and food for the travel to Qinghai.
Following her arrest, Chinese authorities ransacked her home and took away her mobile phone and other belongings.
Kunsang Lhamo was studying at Dokha monastery and also teaches Tibetan language to destitutes and children of poor families. She is also known for her skills in reading and performing story of the Epic Ling Gesar.
