Three Tibetans arrested in Sog County

DHARAMSHALA, July 18: The Chinese authorities in Tibet’s Sog County have arrested three Tibetans from village 13 of Rongpo town in the County without citing any reasons.

On July 9, a number of Chinese policemen arrived in the village and arrested Gyalten Phelgey, 29 year-old monk; Gedi 52 year-old nun; and 49 year-old Choedok. Their current whereabouts remain unknown.

Gyaltsen Phelgey and Gedi are siblings.

The security personnel have also detained a relative of one of the detainees. The relative had gone to the detention centre to give food and cloth for them.

A large number of Chinese security forces have been deployed in the village 13 and are closely monitoring their movement.
