DHARAMSHALA, June 27: An Indian Tibet supporter today concluded his 48 hour sit-in protest without in solidarity with Tibetans both inside Tibet and in exile here at McLeod Ganj square.
Vishwa Purush Tulsi, a lawyer and founder of Tibet Liberation Front, called upon his fellow Indians to consider Tibetans as guests in their country instead of refugees. “After Chinese invasion, Tibetans led by His Holiness the Dalai Lama came to India as a guest first and the term refugee was given to Tibetans later, so they become our guest first.”
Through his sit-in protest, Tulsi said, he wants to raise awareness on Tibet and its struggle among Indian public and garner support for the Tibetan cause.
In 2011, Tulsi marched from Bodhgaya to Tawang monastery in Arunachal Pradesh in solidarity with Sherab Tsedor, a Tibetan man who attempted to set himself on fire in front of Chinese embassy in Delhi in 2011.
Tulsi expressed his hope in the new government of India. He said “I am very hopeful that good days will come with this new government led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
