DHARAMSHALA, May 12: A Tibetan man has been arrested by the police on Friday on charges of molestation of a thirteen year old school girl of TCV Gopalpur, near Palampur.
An FIR has been registered against Pema Namgyal, 30, who worked as a cook in the school kitchen.
The school nurse took the victim to Rajendra Prasad Medical College Hospital, Tanda, where medical examinations were carried out. The hospital and the school authorities then informed the police about the incident. Police are awaiting medical reports of the examinations.
The accused appeared before a judge in a Palampur court and has been sent for three-day judicial remand.
Tsultrim Dorjee, Director of the Tibetan Children’s Village Gopalpur refused to comment on the incident saying the police are already investigating the case and the matter is subjudice.
Sources also said that another incident of molestation of an eight-year-old girl by the accused also was brought to light by this case.
Tibetan Women’s Association appreciated the decision taken by the school authorities to have the matter dealt with by law.
Headquartered here in the Northern Indian town of Dharamshala, TCV is the largest residential school of the exiled Tibetan community and also one of the largest of its kind in India.
With established branches in India extending from Ladakh in the North to Bylakuppe in the South, TCV has over 15,000 children under its care.

I am not surprised as i have also been a victim of molestation in Tibetan Homes Foundation in Mussoorie UP. Let alone molestation, there were gang rapes, child abuse, bullies etc. happening back then in the school hostels and the foster parents won’t even care. If you try to complain, they would conspire and you will be looked down, laughed at. What kind of buddhist community is this? Shame on this institution, shame on school. There are so many perverts with zero iq working as school teacher, warden, foster parents etc.
