Missing Tibetan man in Bylakuppe found dead

DHARAMSHALA, March 14: A Tibetan man who had gone missing since March 4 (third day of Tibetan New Year) in Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement has been found dead on Wednesday. Police found the body of Loden, 42, in a field nearby the old Tibetan settlement.

Jampa Phuntsok, Settlement officer of Dikyi Larsoe Tibetan settlement confirmed the incident and said the police have arrested an Indian man in connection with the murder. “Loden went missing on March 4, and we filed a complaint to the local police. The police later found his body in a field nearby and arrested one man in connection with his murder,” he said.

Loden was murdered allegedly by his Indian friend, Girish, an employee in a driving school, sources said. In an earlier Police interrogation, the accused denied having any knowledge about Loden’s whereabouts but reportedly admitted to his crime later. However, the motive for the murder is not yet known. Police are investigating into the case further.

Loden lived with his wife and 3 daughters in Camp no. 4 of Dekyi Larsoe Tibetan Settlement, Bylakuppe.

The Secretary of the Department of Home of the Tibetan Government in Exile was not available for comment due to the ongoing Tibetan Parliament session.

Last week, a 22 year old Tibetan Canadian youth died after being stabbed while he was trying to break up a fight on the Tibetan New Year celebrations in Toronto.
