Dalai Lama leaves for US visit

DHARAMSHALA, February 17: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama today left his exile hometown of Dharamshala for United States of America where he will participate in a series of public talks and participate in Tibetan New Year (Losar) celebrations in Minnesota on March 2.

The 78 year old Nobel laureate is scheduled to begin his itinerary from San Francisco with a public talk on February 22 organized by the Himalayan Foundation. His Holiness will also take part in a dialogue on “Compassion and Business” at Santa Clara University organized by CCARE and Santa Clara University on Feb. 24. The Tibetan leader will give a public talk on “Non-Violence and the Effects of Compassion in the 21st Century” hosted by The Lourdes Foundation in Los Angeles on Feb. 25.

The Tibetan spiritual leader will then visit Minnesota where he will participate in the 26th annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum, and give a talk on “The Nature of Happiness, Fulfillment and Embodiment” at Macalester College.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will also participate in the Tibetan New Year celebrations organized by the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota. He will be joined by U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison in his first ever Tibetan New Year in the US. “We are very honored and excited as His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be here in Minnesota to bless us during our Tibetan new year celebrations,” said Namgyal Dorjee, the president of Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota.

His Holiness will wrap up his US visit with a talk in Washington on “Beyond Religion: Ethics for the Whole World” organized by the National Cathedral and the Office of Tibet, New York, on March 7.
