Man arrested in Mundgod for killing his brother

DHARAMSHALA, December 26: A Tibetan man has been arrested in Mundgod Tibetan settlement yesterday for allegedly murdering his elder brother on Tuesday night. Police have arrested Namgyal Samdup of camp no. 4 of Doeguling Tibetan settlement for hacking his elder brother Palden Ngodup to death. The deceased was 34.

Namgyal Samdup is known among friends as Bhu Api and his brother Palden Ngodup as Baazigar, a local Tibetan said on condition of anonymity.

The two brothers were married to one wife, the source said. It is not known what caused the incident. However, neighbors heard the two brothers shouting at each other that night, added the source.

An English language newspaper from the region said he died on the way to hospital. Doeguling Tibetan settlement Mundgod is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India.

Police have arrived at the scene on Wednesday and further investigations are on.
