DHARAMSHALA, December 11: A 24 year old Tibetan student has been found dead Tuesday in his room at the College of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, in what appears to be an apparent case of suicide.
Police have confirmed the death but did not divulge more details saying a police team will investigate the death.
Identified as one Tenzin Losel, the deceased had completed a six month course under the Tibetan Public Service Commission’s program at Sarah where he received a certificate of completion from the Tibetan PM Lobsang Sangay on Monday.
Tibetan Settlement officer Sonam Dorjee who visited the institute said it appeared to be a case of suicide by hanging. “The victim has left a suicide note in English,” Dorjee said.
According to the note, he was committing suicide due to unbearable pain from an illness. It was not known what illness he had.
The police have sent the body and the letter for postmortem and forensic examination.
Dorjee said he has learnt from students that Losel had been under depression for the past few months.
Born in Lhasa, he completed his schooling from TCV Bylakuppe.
