DHARAMSHALA, November 4 – The Tibetan government in exile (officially known as the Central Tibetan Administration) has condemned an editorial by a top Chinese government official that vowed to wipe out views of the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his “clique” from Tibet.

The exile government’s minister for Information and International Relations Dicki Chhoyang has said such counter-productive measures by the Chinese government to stifle free flow of information in Tibet will only further exacerbate the resentment of Tibetans inside Tibet. “We are deeply concerned that such measures will give Chinese authorities free hand to intensify crackdown on Tibetans.”

Chen Quonguo, a top ranking official of Chinese government has said Beijing will ensure that no voice of the Dalai Lama and his clique is seen or heard in Tibet by censoring the internet, television or any other means.

Chen, in a party journal called Qiushi, said that the party will strike hard against the reactionary propaganda of the splittists and prevent them from entering Tibet.

Chen further noted that the party would seek to expose the Dalai Lama’s “hypocrisy and deception” and his “reactionary plots”.

A mere possession of pictures and speeches of the Dalai Lama could lead to arrests and jail sentence in Tibet.

122 Tibetans have self immolated in Tibet since 2009 calling for freedom in Tibet and return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
