DHARAMSALA, October 13 – A Tibetan monk from Palyul monastery in Palyul county was arrested by the Chinese police yesterday, a Tibetan living here with contacts in the region said. He was picked up from his monastic quarters in the afternoon yesterday.
Kalsang Choedar, age unknown, was arrested for allegedly giving information about recent crackdown in Driru to exile “separatists”. He is believed to have been taken to Chengdu, according to the source.
Over 400 monks and local Tibetans gathered outside the local police station appealing for the release of Kalsang Chodar who is a native of Driru.
