DHARAMSHALA, September 5: Former Kalon Tripa Professor Samdhong Rinpoche today said that Rangzen (independence) advocates are not “anti-Dalai Lama”.
The former Tibetan PM and academician was speaking at the third General meeting of the Tibetan People’s Movement for Middle Way, a group formed by some local politicians in support of the MWA policy.
Rinpoche said, “His Holiness the Dalai Lama has proposed the Middle Way Approach and has been adopted democratically by Tibetans. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has never imposed this policy on Tibetans; hence, we cannot describe opposition to the MWA supporters as anti-Dalai Lama.”
A two-day General meeting was also attended by Tibetan Parliamentarians and representatives from 23 regional chapters.
The former Prime Minister said, “Currently both the MWA and Rangzen advocates’ mission is same, that is to solve the critical situation inside Tibet and put an effort to change the Chinese hard-line policies on Tibetans inside Tibet.”
“Instead of unnecessarily targeting among ourselves, we should take steps towards fulfilling our goal.”
Rinpoche also noted that different political stands can exist in a democratic society and that it is much needed.
The meeting will discuss on various issues such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s security, solidarity actions to be carried out to address the critical situation inside Tibet, to undertake various campaigns to promote “Middle Way Approach”.
