DHARAMSHALA, August 2: A Tibetan man has been released after spending 7 months in a Chinese jail without trial. Tamding Tsering was released on July 29 from a prison in Xining, and is currently at his hometown in Dokarmo Meko in Tsekhok County, Malho Tibet Autonomous Prefecture.
Tamding Tsering was detained last year in connection with the self-immolation protest by Bhenchen Kyi, a schoolgirl who set herself on fire in Dokarmo region of Tsekhog, Rebkong, on December 9. She passed away at the site of her protest.
Although he was not tried under the law by any court he was subjected to severe torture while in detention, sources told phayul. He is believed to be in poor health due to injuries sustained during the seven – month detention.
