Tibetans paraded with pictures of the Dalai Lama in Bathang
Despite the restriction by Chinese government over the possession of His Holiness the Dalai Lama pictures, Tibetans in Bathang paraded with the large pictures of the spiritual leader defying the Chinese restriction.
The incident took place during the enthronement ceremony of Trulku Tenzin Nyima as a reincarnation of Trulku Dudul Lingpa at Changkar Monastery in the subdivision of Bathang County, Kardze on September 1.
According to the report made by The Tibet Express, “Around 10,000 local Tibetans took part in the ceremony to welcome the young lama by riding on motorbikes displaying large pictures of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and paraded in the ceremony.”
Possessions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s picture and Tibetan National Flag are considered illegal in Tibet. Dalai Lama is considered as a ‘separatist’ by the China. The possession of such things can be resulted in tortures or jailed.
In 2009, the authorities in Tongkhor burned around 18 sacks of Dalai Lama’s pictures.
Chinese government has made many hard policies on Tibetans in Tibet and Tibetans have been protesting against its policies.
Since 2009, 51 Tibetans have set ablaze to protest against the Chinese occupation.
