DHARAMSHALA, August 20: Dr Khenrab Gyamtso, vice principal and senior lecturer at the Dharamshala based Tibetan Medical and Astrological College was sworn in as the new Domey Member of Parliament yesterday in Dharamshala.
Dr Khenrab Gyamtso took oath as a member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile from Speaker Penpa Tsering at a gathering attended by members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
Dr Gyamtso, who secured 11th place in the Domey list of elected representatives in the recent general elections filled in the seat left vacant by Phelgay Dolma Tsomo.
Speaking to Phayul, Deputy Speaker Khepo Sonam Tenpel said that Phelgay Dolma Tsomo submitted her resignation on August 2.
“Phelgay Dolma Tsomo has cited time constraints as a reason for her resignation,” the Deputy Speaker said.
The 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, sworn into office May last, is scheduled to sit for its first monsoon session from September 16-October 1.
