NEW DELHI: After the arrest of three persons, Delhi police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a gang of Tibetans allegedly involved in sending fellow Tibetans to Europe and Thailand illegally.
Chinzon Lodoe, 48, Tenzing Dukada, 46, and Pempa Tsering, 36– all residents of Mysore– were apprehended for their alleged involvement in human trafficking and Rs 16.50 lakh cash, four passports and a car were recovered.
The arrests were made at a restaurant in Lodhi Colony on Tuesday night, said deputy commissioner of police (south) H G S Dhaliwal. “They had been operating a well organized racket of human trafficking by luring the Tibetans eager to settle abroad,” he said adding they promised visa for France for Rs five lakh. “After receiving the money, first they arranged for a Thai visa on the passports of victims. Thereafter, they would hand over the passport to the victim. They would also provide the mobile number of a person in Thailand who would arrange a visa of France. On their arrival in Thailand, the victims would find that the mobile number provided by the accused persons never existed,” Dhaliwal said.
