Dharamsala, November 4 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama and former deputy prime minister of India Lal Krishna Advani will attend on Friday the opening session of the sixth International Conference of Tibet Support Groups in Suraj Kund near the Indian capital New Delhi.
“This conference will discuss the current situation in Tibet and outline ways for the Tibet support groups throughout the world to strengthen their work in the light of new developments in China and Tibet,” said Dr. N.K. Trika, National Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, India.
The Core Group for Tibetan Cause, India, convenes the three – day conference that is expected to be participated by around 250 members form several Tibet support groups worldwide.
The Core Group for Tibetan cause is the apex body that coordinates the Tibet support groups in India.
The Tibetan prime minister Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche will deliver the keynote address at the opening function.
Other international guests who would be present at the inaugural ceremony are Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, Senator from Phillippines; Mr Rafael Gimalov, Member of Russian Parliament and Major (Retd.) Vijay Singh Mankotia, former Minister in the Himachal Pradesh government.
The previous conferences of Tibet Support Groups have been held in Dharamsala in 1990, Bonn in 1996, Berlin in 2000, Prague in 2003, and Brussels in 2007. A special TSG conference was also held in New Delhi in 2008.
