Dharamsala, October 19 – US Under Secretary Maria Oter, the United States Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues called on His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Atlanta where the Tibetan leader is on a three day visit as part of his North American tour.

The exile Tibetan government’s website said the Tibetan leader reiterated his “commitment to Middle Way Approach of working non-violently to resolve the issue of Tibet.”

The meeting was attended by the Tibetan Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche and His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy Kasur Lodi Gyari.

“Support for his efforts from the United States has been critical at many levels and His Holiness was very pleased to hear again from Under Secretary Otero that the Obama administration (supports) his Middle Way approach,” Kasur Lodi Gyari was quoted by the website as saying.

Besides her special responsibility of Tibet related matters, Otero is also Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs.
