MYSORE: The Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society will host the World Conscience Day on Monday to commemorate the 74th birthday of Tibetan spiritual
leader Dalai Lama.

The Society is hosting the event on behalf of Tibetan Support Group, southern region. Society president Gp Capt H Rajagopal (rtd) told reporters that the aim of the event is to create awareness about the Tibetan issues. It is imperative since it involves India’s security issues too, he stated, pointing at Tibet that acted as a buffer zone between India and China.

BJP MLC Thontadarya said that India should take up the Tibetan issue and help them get freedom from the Chinese occupation. As the international community is not taking up the issue and it is for the people to lead a movement. India has failed to take up the Tibetan issues at the UN effectively, he said.

The programme at the Jaganmohan Palace auditorium includes talks by columnist S Gurumurthy, and Swami Muktidananda.
